POSITION TITLE: EMEA Sports Marketing Manager – Grass Roots (m/f/d)
LOCATION: London/UK or Munich/Germany or Barcelona/Spain
PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:
The EMEA Sports Marketing Manager – Grass Roots is responsible for supporting the grass roots elements of Sports Marketing within EMEA. Working with the country sports marketing team, sales teams and distributors within each country you will provide training, guidance and influence the local strategic direction to ensure a broad base of Wilson junior players competing at a national level. Ensuring a strong network of high-level coaches, best in class scouting and superior relationship management across our grass roots programs. You will manage the transition of top Junior players from National to International contracts. Working with Agents/Managers/Coaches you will ensure we provide a superior level of service to support their growth on the Tour.
KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS:
- Utilize your experience and knowledge working with players, coaches, agents, and managers to train and develop the country sports marketing teams, sales teams & distributors to be able to identify and nurture talent.
- Support country sports marketing teams, Sales Team & Distributors to build a network of high-level coaches that travel internationally to major tournaments.
- Provide strategic input to Marketing leadership regionally & globally and country sports marketing teams, sales teams & distributors on grass roots strategies.
- Attend key Junior tournaments in EMEA supporting country teams to ensure we are the standout brand.
- Working with the country sports marketing team, Sales Team & Distributors conduct regular reviews to recruit top prospects for international contracts.
- Ensure a strong transition plan from National to International contracts with clear internal and external communication.
- Responsible for International contract negotiations, relationship with the players and communication with players representatives.
- Manage all aspects of day-to-day contact with Junior players and their representatives ensuring best in class service levels are defined and met.
- Support the management of onsite player operations and product distribution at Grand Slams.
- Demand Planning and Order Management for player equipment where required.
- Work together with the Pro Lab team to implement equipment and player service strategies that set Wilson ahead of the competition.
- Plan and manage endorsements and equipment budgets for EMEA Junior players in line with Wilson fiscal planning cycles.
- Monitor all financial operations related to Junior players for EMEA: payments, accruals & interplants.
- Manage and direct the Soft Goods Junior strategy for the EMEA.
- Execute successful signing of new junior players and prospects to apparel & footwear contracts.
- Work cross functionally, regionally, and globally, leveraging players to build brand Wilson.
- Ensure players align with Wilson purpose, vision, and values.
- Balance performance and marketability within the overall roster of players.
- Build strong mutually beneficial brand building partnerships between Wilson and players through a variety of Marketing initiatives including content shoots, appearances, and activations.
- Monitor competitors in the space and share relevant learnings to the team.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Fluent in Oral and Written English. Spanish or French preferred.
- SAP knowledge beneficial.
- People oriented – Proven experience in helping people and finding it rewarding to solve people’s problems; proactively using that experience to make the whole service better.
- Problem Solver – Ability to work under pressure and ton deadlines.
- Ability to coordinate cross functionally – You like working hard and thrive on the excitement of a goal-oriented team.
- Ability to travel Internationally a must (up 100 days a year).
PERSONAL PROFILE:
- 3-5 years of relevant experience in Tennis – Played to competitive level and or relevant coaching qualifications.
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, sports science or management beneficial
- Community engagement/building experience preferred
- Familiar with social media platforms and content production preferred
