We are recruiting for a Garment Technologist to join our team based in Alfreton, Derbyshire.  The successful candidate will ensure all Rab products are constructed and manufactured to our exacting standards, are fit-for-purpose and are delivered on-time.  You will be the main point of contact to our vendors and internal teams with regards to production & quality.  Duties will also include full responsibility of all styles post SMS and processing them through the pre-production stages, technically signing them off for production.​

Key responsibilities (including but not limited to):

  • Create technical Production Tech Pack
  • Work closely with overseas supplier to maintain accurate Tech Pack and process product through to production
  • Assess fit on size set and communicate fit amendments to supplier
  • Carry out AQL and QC inspections
  • Partner with Equip China QC team to drive improvements in supply base
  • Analysis of Customer Returns and implement corrective action

To join us as a Garment Technologist you must have:


  • Degree or equivalent in Garment Technology, fashion or textiles; or equivalent experience
  • In-depth knowledge of all aspects of product construction
  • Full understanding of garment specification (building specs, adjusting, grading)
  • Full understanding of QC process & procedures (AQL inspections and reporting)
  • Strong knowledge of the fitting process and grading size specs
  • Understanding of the pattern making process
  • Knowledge of manufacturing
  • Experience of reviewing test reports and good understanding of performance standards
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills to manage the pre-production approval process with suppliers in line with the Buy calendar
  • Creative thinking to industrialise and improve product quality & cost through construction engineering
  • Strong Microsoft Office IT skills including Word, Outlook and Excel at Intermediate level


  • Previous experience of outdoor wear in a similar sector/industry
  • Experience of working for a brand or retailer
  • Previous experience working with overseas factories
  • Hands-on factory experience
  • Personal interest in outdoor performance clothing
