At a Glance:
As Environmental Sustainability Project Manager you will lead various cross-functional sustainability projects that all feed into On’s overall sustainability strategy. Besides managing projects, you will also execute & drive projects with coordination of cross-functional alignment, gathering and analyzing data, and support both internal and external communication efforts.
Your Team:
We are a small team with big responsibilities. We design and implement the sustainability strategy across the entire company and help shape the future of the organization. We do research, create strategies and implement projects and innovate products and processes through the lens of sustainability.
Your Mission:
- Create & lead various projects simultaneously across different functions from start to end.
- Create processes and improve existing environmental programs, create timelines, gain stakeholder input, create standard operating procedures (SOPs) & guidelines, be an expert at prioritization and ensure projects stay on track and flag issues proactively.
- Act as the project owner for updating & expanding our approach to chemical compliance both on products and in manufacturing facilities and collaborate closely with our Vietnam sustainability & sourcing teams as it relates to worker health & safety programs and emission requirements.
- Lead efforts on material certifications to ensure full traceability on sustainability claims from raw materials to finished products through to brand certifications.
- Provide expertise, where applicable, to the sustainability strategy & goals and project manage newly forming areas of work.
- Support external communications and sales teams by supporting requests from retailers & key accounts on brand sustainability information.
- Assist in continuing to develop & implement the sustainability strategy by integrating ownership within departments.
Your Story:
- Bachelor or Master’s Degree in environmental or chemical engineering, sustainability management, or a similar combination.
- 5+ years of experience in the field preferably within the apparel or footwear industry.
- Excellent project management skills combined with a roll up your sleeves can-do attitude.
- An ability to understand how to successfully lead cross-functional initiatives.
- Experience in product line management tools such as Centric and/or other sustainability or traceability software.
- Attention to detail while keeping the overall picture in mind.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Strong problem solver with knowledge of sourcing or environmental management, international experience preferred.
- Extensive tools/ technology knowledge (Word, Excel, PowerPoint a must).
- Preferably several years of working experience in one of the following areas: chemical management, material certifications, product sustainability, and sustainability reporting.
