The role:

We are looking for a Planner based in our office in Stabio, Switzerland and reporting to the Supply Planning Manager.

Analyze and plan Timberland EMEA apparel buys against production requirements (factory capacity, lead times and minimums) in order to achieve maximum sales with minimal inventory exposure.

Calculate and place buys at SKU level to the Global supply planning in accordance with global deadlines.

Coordinate shared information with other departments.

Support creation of department analysis and reports.

Ensure timely and accurate cross functional communication with all counterparts.

Primary accountabilities:

  • Responsible for products set up and maintenance of the Line Plan in SAP – FMS through active partnership with Sales Planners and Merchandisers.
  • Responsible to set up EMEA seasonal buy strategy.
  • Translate Forecast done by Demand Planning team into ‘Buy plans’, shared with the global supply planning team (Need To Buy creation in order to maximize sales with minimal inventory exposure).
  • Responsible for the provision of demand plans to all relevant parties (VF Asia and Global team in HK) to help predict capacity requirements.
  • Define buys at sku level, based on current inventory levels, open purchase orders, production constraints (i.e. MOQ, lead times), potential capacity constraints and other parameters (i.e. safety stock, quick turn replenishments)
  • Work with Supply Planning and Merchandising to address topics such as drops, minimum issues, re-buys etc.
  • Phase Purchase Orders based on the Need To Buy requirement (Tracking of Final POs versus Dummy) &
  • Proactively update sales force, retail team and merchandising on delivery issues, last time buys, IDD changes, etc.
  • Work with Global Supply Planning to assure that vendor confirmation of buy quantities and ship dates are in line with planning data.
  • Ad hoc analysis and reporting as required
  • Ensure Planning KPI’s are met: Order Coverage, Shortages, Excess by category


  • Degree in Supply Chain & Inventory Management or equivalent experience.
  • 2-3 years experiences in demand planning or in a forecasting role.
  • Ability to collate, manipulate and summarize information in a meaningful manner with attention to details
  • Computer literate, proficiency in excel is a must and an understanding of forecasting/demand planning tools is an asset.
  • Reporting skills are required, to ensure a consistent flow of information are provided to management in a simple but compelling manner.
  • Flexible – in thinking style and in the ability to work within a dynamic working environment where priorities frequently change, whilst meeting key deadlines
  • Able to work within the Operations team and be able to prioritise workload, also ability to liaise with other departments within the business, Central Demand and Global Supply planning and the Customer Service teams.
  • Ability to create and develop working relationship to facilitate processes integration with other departments within the business: Sales, Merchandising, Global supply planning (HK).
  • Able to work in team environment as well as independently
