Purpose & Overall Relevance for the Organization:

Our aspiration as the Finance function at adidas is to be the reliable business partner driving growth and value creation. As a central element within the Finance organization, Corporate Controlling drives financial steering and decision making through high-quality financial analysis and foresight. The department covers strategic controlling, corporate planning & performance management, integrated business & demand planning, sales finance, brand/marketing finance as well as global cost management and group functions finance.

As a Senior Manager Strategic Controlling, you will drive critical projects that allow us to execute successfully on our ‘Own the Game’ growth strategy. Those projects can relate directly to our ‘Own the Game’ financial model as well as to Corporate Controlling priorities and Strategic Financial projects. In the past such projects included the management of stranded costs, establishing a holistic perspective on Free Cash Flow as well as the developing a blueprint for a comprehensive investment governance framework. You will work in a fast-paced, highly visible environment, and liaise with a broad set of stakeholders including the CFO, the SVP Corporate Controlling, the Corporate Strategy team, Finance Directors in our markets, as well as other senior Finance leaders and business development teams.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare top-notch strategic and financial analysis and develop clear synthesis

• Lead financial model workstreams and use model to derive strategic insights

• Set up new projects (define scope, structure workplan, determine end products)

• Lead project team members, manage deliverables and drive results

• Develop high-quality discussion materials and synthesize results for senior stakeholders

• Support the team that ultimately owns the project during implementation

• Ability to work in a cross-functional environment, setting up structures and creating sustainable and meaningful reporting and analyses

• Proactively influence programs/projects and respective alignment within Corporate Controlling by acting as a business partner, consultant and/or solution provider as the situation requires and drive as well as ensure the implementation of common solutions

• Run and further improve communication packages to present results, recommendations and solutions for business partners

• Drive best in class analytics, procedures and processes across relevant Corporate Controlling functions

• Ensure financial guidelines are respected, identify critical processes & recommend solutions

• Drive continuous improvement in the area of own responsibility

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

• Strong analytical mindset and facility with numbers

• Solid understanding of finance and accounting

• Strong financial modelling skills (Excel) and ideally experience with planning software

• Strong project management skills, drive and ownership

• Outstanding problem-solving skills (structuring, analysis, synthesis)

• Process orientated and end-to-end mind set driven

• Fluent in English (written and spoken)

Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications: 

• Advanced degree or qualification in Business, Finance or Economics

• Min. 6-8 years of broad-based (Corporate) Finance experience with progressive responsibility in industry leading consultancy and/or top tier investment bank
